Vintage Natural Mexican Jelly Fire Opal Diamond Trilogy Ring
If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, our striking Mexican jelly fire opal ring might just fit the bill.
It is of Continental European origin, likely Austria or Germany dating from the late 1940's. There is a partly rubbed out maker's mark on the inside of the shank as well as a gold fineness mark "585", which is a Continental European hallmark for 14 karat gold. The ring is crafted in sunny yellow gold, with a lovely bezel setting for the opal. It has a simple, symmetrical design. The gorgeous natural Mexican fire opal is also called a Mexican jelly opal - because it looks like a jelly bean ! Slightly opaque, predominantly bright orange but with beautiful flashes of different colours, fiery red, green, yellow and mauve, which we tried to capture with a camera - we do have videos which we can email to you by request. The opal has a classic cabochon cut, while the two twinkly single cut diamonds on the sides.
The opal in its setting measures 9.9 by 8.5 mm.The top of the ring with the diamonds spreads16.9 mm across your finger. The ring is a size US 7.5 or UK P and is easily re-sizeable up or down. It weighs 1.81 grams and is in great vintage condition as is the opal.
We love ...... the gorgeous, electric, fiery colours of this beautiful fire opal, a precious jelly bean !!
