Stunning Victorian 4.00ct Diamond Triple Row Crescent Moon Pendant Brooch

For guidance, growth and new beginnings, for our ever changing and evolving states. And for sheer, precious sparkling beauty - just like the moon we change all the time. It is good to remember this. 

Victorians were obsessed with celestial jewellery. Crescent moons were symbolic of the idea of constant change, like the new moon changing and growing into the full moon. It also carried a loving message of hope, of a new relationship growing and maturing - how wonderfully romantic ! Crescents were often worn by brides on their honeymoon, and would be gifted to them as a wedding present.

We have a thing for divine diamond crescents and this one is out of this world with its three rows of graduating old mine cut diamonds. Continental European in origin she dates back to around 1880. She was originally a brooch with a removable pin and likely also worn on a tiara! The crescents were usually found as brooches or detachable jewellery sets. She has had a 9 karat yellow gold bale added, matching her 14 karat yellow gold back (tested). We adore her wonderful design and those fabulous old mine cut diamonds, so brilliantly white and sparkly, they are just divine! They are full of sparkling life in their silver pinched settings. Most are estimated colour G with a few H colour and most VVS-VS clarity with a few SI clarity. So stunningly white and bright, just truly fabulous! The estimated total
 weight of the diamonds is 4.00 carats.

The crescent measures 34.2 mm by 32.9 mm and its total length with the bale is 41.2 mm. It weighs 8.56 grams, while with its detachable pin, it weighs a total of 10.75 grams. We love its large, bold size. The crescent is in absolutely amazing antique condition.
