Stunning Antique Georgian Rose Cut Diamond Heart Cluster Ring

She is an absolutely stunning antique beauty dating back to around 1820. A true queen of hearts, with her large rose cut diamond centre shaped like a heart. Surrounding that lovely, large stone are cushion cut, old mine diamonds. The photos do not reflect the gorgeous, bright, white fire of those gems, we will be happy to email you a video of this beauty in all her wonderful glory !

She is testing 14-18 karat gold - the jewellery at the time was not made to exacting gold standards, and the ring is not hallmarked. The diamond settings are made in silver. The total diamond content is estimated at about 2 carats - the centre diamond measures 10.8 by 7.8 mm, weighing approximately 1.3 carats. The exact weight of rose cut diamonds in their settings is very difficult to estimate, so please bear this in mind. 

We love the shape and the cut of the centre stone, it is stunning. She has some tiny, feather inclusions at the top of the stone and in the centre. These are inside the stone and do not reach the surface, which is an important consideration for the absolutely perfect stability of the stone. Some inclusions are always to be expected in older jewellery and you barely notice it when looking at the ring. She is a chunky, bright and sparkly stone. The old mine cuts in the heart surround are beautiful, complementing the rose cut diamond in the centre to charming, antique perfection. Some have small inclusions, which are only visible with the jewellers loupe. 

The top of the heart cluster measures 15.5 mm top to bottom and 12.5 side to side. The width of the top of the ring including the diamond shoulders is 17.3 mm. She sits 4.8 mm off the top of your finger, lovely, low and smooth. The band at the back of the ring is 1.9 mm wide. It is beautifully sculpted and engraved, in the classic style of the time. The ring weighs 3.2 grams. It is size US 7.5 or UK P at he moment, though it also fits finger size US 7 or UK O 1/2 also. It can easily be re-sizeable up or down. All the stones and settings for the diamonds are in lovely antique condition, as is the ring in its entirety.
