Fabulous Antique Biedermeier Natural Pink Topaz Pearl Choker Necklace

This extraordinary Biedermeier choker is a stunning example of an antique gem we will never tire of. She is an outstanding beauty and looks absolutely gorgeous on, as gorgeous now as around 1840, when she was first made in the Continental Europe. Those three large baby pink, natural topaz gemstones are out of this world. They are flanked by two slightly paler, natural pink quartz stones on the sides and creamy, lustrous natural half pearls. The pearl drop is a natural river pearl. Those beautifully cut coloured gems have the pretty pink lightness to them and intensity and saturation of the delicate colour all at the same time, they are absolutely wonderful ! 

The choker is not hallmarked, as expected in a piece of jewellery of this age. She is hand crafted in 18 karat gold, which we had electronically tested. Her gems are enclosed in beautiful, open back settings for the topazes and quartz, and closed backed settings for the pearls. The measurements for the toad stones from the top down are 10.2 x 4.7 mm, 8.3 x 8.8 mm and 5.6 x 7.5 mm. The total estimated weight for the pink topaz stones, a very sought after and precious gemstone is 6 carats. All the stones are all original, with no replacements and are remarkably matched. 

The choker is meant to be worn at your throat, tied with a fine ribbon of your colour choice or some fine lace. She is a stunning piece of jewellery, beautifully shaped in a true, opulent and rich Biedermeier fashion, a Continental European style of between 1815-1848. There are two semi-oval loops on the sides, where the ribbon goes through. There is an old repair on both of them, done very well and absolutely stable. If you like the idea of changing the ribbon to match your outfits, for different looks, you can double the fine ribbon, threading it on each side of the choker and tie it at the back of your neck. We have done this for our photos. If you prefer the look of a single ribbon, it will need a couple of stitches on each loop to hold it permanently on. 

The choker is cleverly engineered and designed in a shape of a gentle dome, so it sits beautifully on your neck. She is 47.1 mm wide, side to side and 28.7 mm long, top to bottom not including the pearl drop. Together with the drop she measures 43.7 mm. She weighs 9.2 grams. The choker, as well as all her gems are in remarkably wonderful condition.
