Exquisite Antique Victorian Diamond Winged Carved Turquoise Cherub Angel Pendant

We have no words .... no words .... this angel is so beautiful, we must be in heaven!! In all the long years searching for beautiful jewels, all over the world, we have never seen a carved turquoise cherub. Look at his chubby face, and those diamond wings! This little treasure has charm, cuteness and ethereal beauty we rarely see ... 

Winged angels carry a beautiful symbolism of divine protection, spiritual freedom, and the soul's transcendence. Winged angels are messengers between the earthly and heavenly realms. They watch over and protect us, bringing hope, divine guidance and reassurance, that we are never alone, that we are always divinely protected. The wings also signify the soul's rising above the physical limitations, the transcendence into higher spiritual realms. The root word for "angel" actually means "messenger"and comes from a greek word "angelos", which translates as messenger or envoy. 

He started life around 1880 as a brooch, lovingly hand crafted in 9 karat gold with silver settings for the diamonds (tested). We took the brooch fitting off and added a bale in 9 karat matching yellow gold and voila! He is now ready to have a new, very busy life, being loved, worn and admired for all his glorious cuteness and charm. 

The face of the angel measures 9.4 by 7.1 mm. The finely carved natural turquoise is a pretty and intense blue/green colour. The pendant is 27.3 mm wide and 21.5 mm long, including the bale. The rose cut diamonds in the wings are super sparkly, white and bright- the photos with a flash of the camera do not do them justice. The pendant weighs 3.4 grams and is in beautiful antique condition.
