Art Deco Fancy Orange Natural Zircon Platinum Solitaire Ring
Zircons are beautiful, natural gemstones, famous for sparkling like fancy coloured diamonds !
Zircons naturally occur as green, red, pink, white, brown, orange, yellow and most well known, blue, which is most often heat treated to achieve the blue colour. Zircon is a doubly refractive stone, giving it a brilliance compared only to diamonds. The old cut zircons, like this gorgeous stone in our ring are especially beautiful. White zircons were used in the 18th century as a diamond substitute. Multicoloured necklaces and bracelets were fashionable in the late Victorian times while the blue zircon reached the height of its popularity in the Art Deco period. It is a relatively rare gemstone compared to the more commonly used ones, in the sense that you don't see it as often as an other coloured stones. Zircons really are quite magical with their fiery play of colour and stunning brilliance. They are special, once you become enchanted by them, you are always drawn by their spell. This one here has a deep orange/ whiskey colour with fiery tones dancing with your every move !

This gorgeous ring was made in the early Art Deco period, around 1920. As it is not hallmarked we tested it, and it is platinum. Designed as a solitaire with lovely, fine, plain shoulders, it has a truly beautiful, fine gallery. It would make a stunning engagement ring. The zircon is beautifully cut making the stone look like a 3 carat fancy diamond. It is in a fantastic condition, with only a little faint rubbing to its top facets. You can only see them with a strong jeweller's loupe, our photos show it in detail because the flash of the camera reflects from them, but you cannot see this in natural light. It measures 8.5 mm in diameter and is estimated to weigh 3.3 carats. The ring is size US 6.5 or UK N and easily re-sizeable up or down. It weighs 3.65 grams. In great antique condition.
