Art Deco English 9K Gold Garnet Ring
This simple and elegant Art Deco ring is all about its gemstone, a beautiful, large garnet.
The emerald cut garnet measures 9.9 by 8 mm and is estimated to weigh 5.6 carats. It is a lovely and clean pyrope garnet with gorgeous deep colour of the finest red wine. The colour is very intense and bright. There are two tiny nicks to the top facet of its table and a couple of small internal inclusions that are typical of garnets - they are reassuring of the stone's authenticity. These are only visible with a strong jewellers loupe. We had the gem checked by an FGA qualified gemologist. The garnet is set in a lovely, yellow gold, four claw setting and hallmarked with 9ct for English 9 karat gold. It was made around 1920 to 1930. There are lovely, chased flower shaped decorations at the shoulders. The ring weighs 3.49 grams, its band iat the back is s 2 mm wide. The ring sits 5.3 mm off the top of the finger. It is size US 5 or UK I 1/2 and is easily re-sizeable up or down with the hallmarks fully preserved. Both the ring and the garnet are in excellent antique condition.
We love ..... this understated, timeless and elegant ring with its rich, bright and velvety reds in a gorgeous flash dance, enhanced by the mellow, yellow gold of the frame.
