Art Deco Carved Jadeite Jade Pendant Charm Dangler

This lovely jadeite jade pendant hails from the 1920's Art Deco era. It features a perfectly round disk with typically Chinese, floral carving.

The popular name for jadeite is jade, which is commonly used ( and confused ) for two different gemstones, nephrite and jadeite. Nephrite is generally darker, softer and more commonly found, therefore less expensive than jadeite. Jadeite is a rarer, higher quality stone, which started to be mined in Burma in the 1800's. By the 1920's Burma was still the main source of this highly desired gem. It has especially been valued in the Chinese culture for its vibrant and uplifting energies, connected to abundance, prosperity, wisdom and purity. It is also purported to enhance healing, harmony and a spiritual growth, helping alignment to specific intentions and intuition.

This jadeite has a lovely, apple green colour. The disk is 14.5 mm in diameter and 3.5 mm in thickness. The yellow gold bale is not hallmarked and tests 9 karat gold. The total length of the pendant with the bale is 22.1 mm, it weighs 1.45 grams and is in lovely antique condition.
