Antique Victorian Diamond Starburst Brooch And Pendant

Bursting into your life (and your most gorgeous neck mess) is this dazzling diamond sunshine!

She is a glorious Victorian era creation, dating to around 1870-1880 Continental Europe, most likely Austro-Hungarian Empire. This jewel easily converts from brooch into a pendant by unscrewing the brooch fitting. When she is worn as a brooch, the pendant fitting folds neatly behind so that all you see is the beautiful diamond front. 

She is hand crafted in 14 karat rose gold with silver settings for the rose cut diamonds' sun rays. The pin is lower, 9 karat gold , which was often the case. 9 karat gold is often used for just pins, as it is more hard wearing than higher karat gold. The rest of the detachable pin construction is 14 karat gold. All the precious metals have been tested as there are no hallmarks. The rose cut diamonds in the rays of the sun are plump, and chunky, superbly white and full of sparkle - as you would expect the sun's rays to be - beaming with light ! The centre is set with a cluster of absolutely gorgeous old mine cut diamonds, of superb colour, clarity and cut. They are estimated to be G - H colour and VS - SI quality. The centre stone is estimated to weigh 0.30 carats and the reminder 0.10 carats each, making a total of 1.00 carats. We adore their silver pinched collet settings, so charming, moody and very Victorian, so perfect to make those diamonds really shine. The rose cut diamonds are estimated to weigh 0.42 carats together, making the total estimated diamond content 1.42 carats. 

This sparkly sunburst measures 26.1 mm in diameter, the total length of the pendant with the bale is 32.1 mm. She weighs 5 grams as a pendant and 6.5 grams together with the brooch fitting. In lovely antique condition.
