Antique Victorian Diamond Ruby Snake On Cane Pendant

He started his life as a pin made in the Continental Europe around 1880. We removed the pin fitting and added a 9 karat gold bale. He is not hallmarked with gold fineness mark ,so has been tested but is numbered, which indicates a great quality piece of jewellery. His style and fantastic workmanship point to the Austro Hungarian Empire as his place of origin. The cane is made in 14 karat gold, both yellow and rose gold in colour, with a lovely antique patina. The snake's body is crafted of silver, creating a moody, charming setting for the gorgeous gems. The diamonds in the snake's head are beautiful cushion old mine cut diamonds of superb colour and brightness, estimated to weigh 0.18 carats in total. His body is set with rose cut diamonds and eyes with rubies. He is a shimmering, sparkling beauty, throwing off a firework of lights.
The pendant is 53.8 mm long, 10.9 mm wide. The bale fit the dog clips of the Albert chains comfortably. The pendant weighs 2.7 grams and is in lovely antique condition.
