Antique Persian 19th Century Natural Turquoise Drop Earrings

Aren't these earrings superbly elegant? They transport you to the 19th century Persia, yet are nearly contemporary looking in their unique, antique way.

They are not hallmarked and test a minimum of 18 karat gold. The flat, irregular, pear or leaf shaped drops were originally a part of a heirloom fringe necklace or a head dress worn at a wedding. These were stunning, richly elaborate, large pieces of traditional jewellery of unrivalled opulence. The earrings are set with a beautiful, natural Persian turquoises of supreme colour and quality. They look stunning against the backdrop of the rich, yellow gold of the drops. The drops feature their original ring shaped fittings, which had 9 karat matching colour gold shepherd hooks added, to make them into earrings.

The drops measure 14 by 7 mm, they are fine and thin but very sturdy and not prone to bending or dents. The total length of the earrings from the top of the ear hooks, at the front is 28 mm. The hooks are 25 mm measured from the front. They weigh a light and comfortable 1.5 grams together and are in excellent antique condition. They are sold with small, soft plastic guards for the shepherds hooks, which are see-through, and a fantastic way to safeguards earrings from being lost.
