Antique Georgian Rose Cut Diamond Blue Enamel Au Firmament Charm Pendant Dangler

We can't get over how adorable this charm is. A Georgian, Stars In The Sky, Au Firmament celestial little wonder !

Marie Antoinette put celestial jewels on a map of late 18th and early 19th century France, and indeed the whole of Europe. Usually, this style featured rings in blue enamel or glass in dark royal blue, mimicking the night sky, aglow with diamonds or paste gems as stars. Pendants and lockets were rarer. These jewels became the height of fashion, a craze, and an absolute must-have for the wealthy. After all, their Queen wore hers every day! They can be seen in the portraits of Marie Antoinette, she started wearing hers to celebrate the birth of her son. The rings are called Bague au Firmament, which means "a ring of the sky" in French. So, we can call our charm La Breloque Au Firmament, or the "charm of the sky"!

We have two of these little sweeties, as they were originally a pair of lace pins - the other, identical, is in the previous listing. The charm is made in 9 karat yellow gold with silver settings for diamonds (tested) and royal blue enamel. The pin has been expertly removed and 9 karat matching yellow gold bale has been added to existing original loops. The design and quality of this little jewel is amazing.

The charm measures 11 mm in diameter and its total length with the bale is 17 mm. It weighs 1.76 grams and is in wonderful antique condition.
