Antique Georgian Regency Diamond Pearl Engagement Ring

Hand crafted in the English Regency period, around 1820 is this beautiful and traditional engagement ring. Think fit for the Bridgertons, no less !

Pearls and diamonds were the favourite gems chosen by Georgians for their engagement and bridal jewellery. This classic combination stayed in favour right until the 1930's. For the romantic Georgians, pearls were symbols of innocence, purity and cosmic harmony, while the diamonds symbolised endurance..The sunny, yellow gold complements the gems to absolute perfection.

The ring we have here for you was likely an engagement ring. In true regency style, it is richly decorated with floral chasing and has a gorgeous fluted band. Designed as a seven stone ring, it is set with three plump, natural seed pearls and four lovely, rose cut diamonds between them. We can see that one of the pearls has been replaced some time ago with an antique, natural seed pearl, a little smaller and darker in tone. This is more visible in the flash of the camera and under strong magnification, then when the ring is worn in natural light. 

This beauty is skilfully hand crafted in 15 karat yellow gold. As most rings of that time, it is not hallmarked. The ring has been tested for gold content. The ring spreads 18.2 mm across the finger and measures 5.3 mm north to south. It sits nice and low, just 3.8 mm off the top of your finger and weighs 1.6 grams. It is size US 5 3/8 or UK K 1/2. It can be re-sized up or down within reason, it has been re-sized also in the past, you can see a very faint line on the back of the shank. Please do contact us, if you are unsure about the sizing. Apart from the mentioned pearl replacements, the ring is in lovely antique condition. 

We love..... the romantic, creamy pearls with the gentle twinkle of the diamonds. This ring has all the opulence and charm of the Regency era, while being fine and feminine, like Georgian wedding lace.
