Antique Georgian Natural Turquoise 18K Gold Celestial Crescent Moon Pendant
This most divine, Georgian, Regency era crescent hails from around 1830-1840. It is made in sunny, buttery yellow 18 karat gold, it is not hallmarked and has been carefully tested. It is set with perfect, beautiful, evenly coloured turquoise of the best quality, most likely of Persian origin. The fine cannetille wirework, typical of the period is absolutely stunning and in perfect condition - breathtakingly beautiful work !
The crescent was originally a brooch, we had it made into a pendant. Brooches are not easy to wear, we find it such a shame that such gorgeous jewels as this one spend most of their time in jewellery boxes, rather than be loved, worn and enjoyed, hence the conversion. We added matching colour yellow 9 karat gold bale, and doesn't she look lovely!
The crescent itself is just under 2 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. Together with the bale the pendant is nearly 2.25 inches long. Large and beautiful, it is a statement piece. She weighs a whooping 18.8 grams and apart from the two flat tabs where she had her pin cut off, she is in beautiful antique condition.
New Moon crescents signified a start of a relationship and were often gifted to brides on their wedding day. This beauty, with its bright and happy Forget-Me-Not turquoise gems would make a wonderful something old and also blue for your wedding! She will be worn and enjoyed often and passed on to your daughter as a treasured heirloom.
