Antique Georgian Double Row Half Hoop Stacking Natural Pearl Ring

Pearls were the gems for engagement and wedding jewellery in the Georgian period. They were a romantic symbol of innocence, purity and harmony, the perfect and sentimental expression of love. The Georgians were famously sentimental !!

We cherish these wonderful, scarce Georgian pearl half eternity rings for their graceful charm and beauty. They have the timeless appeal and are much sought after as the most beautiful stackers. This one here is particularly gorgeous, so dainty and charming ! We adore the incredibly beautiful, chased shank and the quality and fineness of the workmanship. And those cut down pinched colets are just delightful!

She dates back to circa 1810 England and is not hallmarked, as is often the case with these darlings. We confirmed her gold content by testing. She is 18 karat yellow gold of glorious hue. The natural split pearls range from creamy white and champagne to the hint of moonlit grey. They are on average 2.4 mm in diameter.

This pearly princess is 5.5 mm wide at the front with the band narrowing down to 1.3 mm at the back. Her fluted shoulders are divine ! She sits 2.65 mm off the top of the finger. She is US size 5 3/8 or UK K 1/2. We would recommend not sizing her to preserve the beautiful chasing that goes all the way around the shank, but if you must have her, please ask us for details, we would do our utmost to facilitate the size adjustment for you. Georgian jewellery is best handled by a jeweller who knows how to treat antique jewellery, ours is fantastic. She weighs 1.77 grams and is in lovely antique condition. A couple of the natural split pearls show a little bit of wear and change in colouring, which happens gradually over time and can be expected due to her age. It is a part of her antique charm.
