Antique Georgian 12K Gold Old Mine Cut Diamond Split Ring Chain Connector Extend
Split rings were used in Georgian and Victorian times for securely suspending pendants, and pocket watches. They have a very precise, fine mechanism for opening the split in the ring, allowing the pendant bale to go through, which then closes securely - similar in principle to a modern key chain.
This English Georgian lovely is lovingly hand crafted the rarer 12 karat rich and sunny yellow gold, not hallmarked, hence tested. The lovely, deep floral engraving is typical of the 1820's Regency style decorations. It is finely executed in this quality Georgian item. We added a gorgeous, early antique old mine cut diamond ,set in its original gold and silver pinched collet setting to the inside. It looks absolutely stunning and is now a one of a kind, gorgeous and versatile chain extender too ! The split ring remains functional with its closing mechanism working very well. Apart from the little pin head sized perching to the bottom of the diamond setting , it is in lovely antique condition.
The outer diameter measurement of the ring is 23.3 mm, and his thickness is 2.5 mm, with the weight of 3.93 grams. It is a lovely large size split ring. It will extend the length of your chain by around an inch, if used as so, please take a look at photo 7, as well as the last photo. We added the photos of how this split ring can be used as a pendant and a chain extender, in addition to its usual use.
