Antique French Egyptian Revival Turquoise Diamond Enamel Beetle Earrings
Be still our beating hearts .... we cannot get over how much we love these, circa 1870 Victorian era Egyptian Revival earrings .... with turquoise, rose cut diamond and black enamel beetles !
The finely executed enamel, the gorgeous, sparkly rose cut diamond accents and those natural turquoise bodies ! They are so edgy, so chic, what a big, bold and beautiful look !
We love the darling symbolism too - rebirth, regeneration, the souls journey sings with their unique, antique charm. We have never had a piece of beetle jewellery as unique as these earrings.
The tops are hallmarked with French eagle heads for 18 karat gold and with a makers mark "LB" in a diamond cartouche - which unfortunately we cannot find any information about. The beetle sections are not hallmarked, but have been tested, just to be sure, and are also 18 karat gold. The earrings are 1.5 inches total length and the beetle sections are 13/16 inches in diameter. The earrings weigh 10.87 grams together - we find them a perfect weight when they are worn - not too heavy and dragging on the ear lobe, and not too light. They are in overall fab antique condition with the following to note; one of the turquoise stones has been with replaced or re-set at some point, but you barely notice this, and they differ in colour a little in both earrings - they are just to fabulous to care ! and it is because of their lovely age of course. There are very light wear marks to the front of the earrings , all expected and commensurate with age.
We absolutely adore ..... those fabulous, awesome, bold and unique earrings. A word of warning - people will stop you in awe to admire them and they WILL stare !! :)
