Antique Edwardian Opal Diamond Pearl Pendant
She is a charming Edwardian beauty, finely crafted and elegantly delicate in design.
This lovely, feminine pendant hails from Edwardian era England, around 1900. Hand crafted in 15 karat mellow yellow gold she is not hallmarked and has been tested. it is designed as an oval wreath of natural pearls with diamond leaves, with articulated natural opal drop at the centre. The Australian opal, displaying full range of colours, greens, blues, yellows, pink and oranges, has a stunning colour play. The natural pearls are button shape, white to light cream, with gorgeous satin lustre. The leaves are made in silver, mille grain settings, with bright and sparkly rose cut diamonds. There are two leaves on each side that have lost their halves over the years, but luckily this is symmetrical and not noticeable due to a single leaf design at the bottom of the pendant.
The pendant measures 25.2 mm side to side and 29.6 millimetres north to south, while the total length of it with the bale is 37.9 mm. The opal in its setting measures 8.8 by 6.7 mm, it is estimated to weigh 1.13 carats. The pendant weighs 3.6 grams and, apart from aforementioned two missing half leaves, is in lovely antique condition.
The pendant has a light, feminine look of the English Edwardian jewels of the time. We are selling it without a chain, but have a selection of suitable chains in our listings, please take a look. We think it looks equally great on a chunky gold chain for a bold statement, or more delicate and feminine on a fine platinum chain.
