Antique Edwardian Natural Opal Heart Pendant Charm Dangler
Who loves hearts and stunning, jazzy opals?
This charming treasure has them both; the gorgeous, natural opal heart is set within a lovely, smooth, buttery yellow gold setting. As per Edwardian style and workmanship, the bezel setting is finished with fine mille graining.This looks like the finest beading all around the heart, just like the never ending, eternal love. She dates back to around 1900-1910 and was originally a brooch. Not hallmarked, this English beauty tests 15 karat gold. The opal is most certainly Australian in origin judging by its colour play and quality as well as the age of the charm. The colour play of the opal is phenomenal. She twinkles neon blue and acid greens, as well as yellows, orange and lavender hues - the characteristics of a very good opal (which measures 10.5 x 9.5 mm in its setting. The total length of the pendant including the bale is 17.1 mm. The bale is made from the original pin of the brooch. This glowing jewel weighs 1.18 grams.
Finally, her antique condition is really lovely, including the condition of the opal (no cracks, crazes or chips).
