Antique Edwardian Natural Emerald Diamond Floral Pendant Charm Dangler

Gorgeous little antique pendant - a miniature floral sweetheart in diamond sparkle and green! Emeralds were Cleopatra's favourite gem, a symbol of fertility and immortality in ancient Egypt. Queen Victoria's famous snake engagement ring had an emerald set in the snake's head. Jacky Kennedy and Wallis Simpson's engagements rings were also set with emeralds .... it has always been a loved and desirable gemstone. Spiritually they are the stone of romance, hope and rebirth as well as a balance of mind and heart. Emeralds and diamonds together symbolise romance and endurance. The emerald is a 55th Wedding Anniversary gift, for deep and enduring love and affection and a birthstone for May.

This darling is not hallmarked, we tested it. Its distinct style tells us, that it hails from around 1900-1915 Continental Europe, most likely the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is made in yellow 14 karat gold, with platinum layer for the diamond and the top emerald settings. The bale has been changed for a larger one and it is made in 9 karat matching colour yellow gold. The lovely, bright green natural emeralds are offset with twinkly, rose cut diamonds as the leaves. The emeralds in their setting measure 3.6, 3.5, 3.0 and 2.7 mm. They are estimated to weigh 0.60 carats in total. The gem set part of the pendant measures 16.4 by 9.3 mm, while the total length of the pendant with the bale is 20.4 mm. It weighs a dainty 1.36 grams and is in lovely antique condition.
