Antique Belle Epoque Natural Pearl Diamond Cross Pendant 18K Gold Platinum
La Belle Epoque means "Beautiful Era" in French. It describes a period in European, particularly French history, from 1871 to 1914. It was a happy, peaceful and prosperous time with new advancements in all aspects of life. In jewellery, it combines the elements of the flowing lines of Art Nouveau with the finesse, delicacy and precision of the Edwardian gems.
Our beautiful cross pendant embodies the style of the Belle Epoque perfectly. It is French, hallmarked with French eagle head for 18 karat gold on the back of the bale as well as the mask mark for 950 platinum, used for items imported into France from 1912-1926. The latticework design is fine and delicate to the eye, but sturdy to wear. It is beautifully and precisely executed in yellow gold at the back and platinum front. There are five twinkly rose cut diamonds set in the four points of the cross and the bale. The centre is set with a lovely natural pearl, white and lustrous. The effect is a beautifully feminine and fine cross pendant, as stunning on a fine platinum chain as on the gold ones of various grades, please have a look at our photos. Just stunning !
The cross itself measures 31.7 mm in length (without the hallmarked loop at the top) and 22.3 mm side to side. The total length of the pendant with the bale is 40.1 mm. The pearl measures 3.3 mm in diameter. The pendant weighs 1.9 grams and is in beautiful antique condition.
We love .... this lacy Belle Epoque gem ! So pretty, so charming, utterly delightful !!
